Abstract

Introduction: Botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) is a key tool in the aesthetic treatment of dynamic wrinkles in the upper third of the face. The possibility of storing the diluted product under refrigeration is a practical strategy requiring clinical validation.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of previously diluted and refrigerated BoNT-A applied for aesthetic purposes in the frontal, glabellar, and periorbital regions.

Materials and methods: Quasi-experimental, pre–post intervention study. Twenty adult women received a single treatment session using BoNT-A diluted and stored refrigerated (2–8 °C) for up to 7 days. Clinical outcomes were assessed using standardized photography and a visual analog scale (VAS) for satisfaction at day 30. Descriptive statistics and paired Student’s t-test were applied (p < 0.05).

Results: Clinical improvement was observed in 100% of patients; 85% were rated as significant. Mean satisfaction score was 9.1 ± 0.8. No serious adverse events were reported. Mild bruising occurred in 15% and transient headache in 10%.

Conclusion: Pre-diluted, refrigerated botulinum toxin type A maintained its clinical efficacy and safety for aesthetic treatment of dynamic wrinkles in the upper third of the face. Appropriate storage may optimize clinical use without compromising outcomes.
